Bad book-derived thoughts

After finishing off the rest of both David Brin Uplift trilogies...
...seeing a science fiction movie that starts with an extended dolphin sequence, and wondering which ones talk, which ones are starship pilots, where their tool harnesses are, and so on.
...taking entirely the wrong meaning from "One-of-a-Kind Women's Fitness".
I think
eichin's advice was right on: put a proper ending on Brightness Reef, the fourth book in the sequence, and be done with it. Reading them in roughly sequential order is useful but not essential. Because the entire series makes sense up to this point, and it does go downhill from there.
