There's this program called units. It does everything. Well, it won't read your email. But you can do things like find out how big that "120 GB" hard drive really is:

apt-get install units on my Debian box. It appears to be GNU software, so there's a download here, but no obvious other Web page on it. There's also a (somewhat less featureful) Solaris units.
