Actually succeeded in getting to Sullivan square in time to catch the 12:20 AM bus, but that was running behind, so I watched the commuter rail signals. Oddity of the night was the dwarf signal on the left-hand northbound track showing yellow-over-red, which I believe means "slow approach". My best guess as to what it actually means is that the train is taking the siding on the Haverhill branch. A train actually did appear, a long sand train pulled by four NHN (New Hampshire Northcoast, says Google) engines. It ground to a stop passing through the entire length of the Sullivan Square T stop...and then the bus showed up. Apparently that railroad is actually a subsidiary of Boston Sand and Gravel which exists solely to cart sand between Boston and New Hampshire.
