My new laptop showed up on Tuesday. (Actually, it showed up on Monday, but addressed to my boss, which was the source of the confusion.) I've figured out some of the specialness with it; if you're installing a new IBM ThinkPad T40, there are very good instructions for installing Linux on it. I was careful not to squish the magic not-a-partition, and I've already used it twice to reinstall Windows. :-)

So now I'm going through the "set everything up properly" dance. I'd really prefer to live in Debian when I can, but lack of wireless support is a minor issue. There is built-in wired Ethernet, though, which is nice. Alternatively, I could go off and find a nice distracting game I can play under Windows. If nothing else, though, I have it set up to do the useful work pseudo-dual-head-using-x2x thing, so I can have an editor and javadocs up at the same time. That, and ssh with X forwarding, are all I really need, right?

Blinky? I have a debian laptop with a wireless card and it works fine...A bit tricky to set it up, but what else did I expect?
