My group has this scary-looking espresso machine. After hanging out on the floor in some form or another for two and a half years and making countless cups of tea with it, I finally decided to try making a froofy coffee drink (ideally, "vaguely coffee-flavored sugar water with milk"). At least the UI was pretty straightforward, once I got down to it: ground coffee goes in part A, which attaches to part B, put cups under part B, and pull handle C to make coffee. Meanwhile, put milk in pan, put pan under nozzle D, and turn knob E to steam the milk.

So the result turned out to be fairly recognizable. In fact, the result is a lot like chai, but with a coffee base rather than a teaish base. I think my major failing is with the coffee prep, though. Perhaps the next time I feel like I need a jolt of caffeine in the morning, I'll put less coffee in the coffee thingy. Until then, I have a half container of milk left; guess it's chai for the afternoon...
