IAP...is...heeeeeerrrrreee.... *thud*
Jan. 7th, 2003 08:58 pm120 people showed up to the first day of my IAP Java class; maybe a hundred or so did today. Somehow I'm just not getting a whole lot out of teaching it, though. Being self-deprecating, I'm a boring, dry, lecturer; I do feel like students are learning things, but there's a vague unpolished feeling that I get when I finish a lecture 20 minutes early.
I feel like there's a lot of general stress in the first half of IAP for me. I'm going away next week, which is interfering with the class; plans right now are to leave too early Tuesday morning, have someone else teach the Tuesday class, and cancel the Wednesday class. The trip itself shouldn't be too bad, though unthrilling. There's the FFF this weekend, maybe. Chores. Laundry. Lectures and problem sets to copy and update. Oh yeah, work.
I should find a project that entertains me, doesn't involve a computer, and isn't insanely expensive. I've been saying for a long time now that I was going to build a model railroad; maybe this IAP after my class is over I'll get around to building a proof-of-concept 2'x6' N-scale layout. Hmm.
