Weekend bike plan seems to be to go up to Newburyport on Saturday, then bike along the New Hampshire coast to Kittery, ME, then come back. Let me know if you're interested; logistics might be more exciting than just "take the commuter rail both ways".

How long is the route, and do you know whether it has doomful-to-me hills?

Google Maps thinks it's 23 miles from Newburyport to Kittery via I-95. My proposed route is to just go right up the coast, with one very scenic detour ("follow MA-1A to NH-1A to NH-1B to US-1 to Maine"). I suspect the total will come out to around 50 miles but don't know for sure. I've driven the route recently and don't remember it being doomfully hilly at all.

Is Kittery that place with all the outlet stores? Maybe we should pick up new outfits while we're up there.

Kittery is in fact outlet mall land. This mystifies me, because I'd kind of expect a major retail center near the New Hampshire border to be on the New Hampshire side of it (that "no sales tax" thing and all; see southern Nashua for an example). I guess I don't have any real objections to stopping up there, but this will involve carrying stuff 25ish miles back, and I usually don't have that much carrying capacity on my bike.

I'm mostly kidding, but actually, if there is a Rockport shoe outlet, I have been looking for a women's version of their "looks like a dress shoe but is built like a sneaker" type thing. The stores I've checked at seem to only carry men's.

I'd be willing to make a pilgrimage to one of the outlet mall lands at some point, though perhaps not by bicycle :).
