Looking at Google Maps, there are a couple of options for a northward extension. One is, instead of turning left to go around the loop at the current Lechmere site, go straight. I'm not sure where you go from there -- into the median of 28? a tunnel? -- but there's a little bit of green space that you could run trains through without taking houses. A second option is to build off of the current viaduct but bend right instead of left where it crosses 28 now (and get rid of the terrible overpass where there are three lanes of traffic in a space that only fits two); that option would put you right on to the right-of-way I think you want to be on. The third option is "all subway, all the time, since it worked so well for the Silver Lie connector", but then you could come up anywhere.
...but I guess none of these projects actually involve the North Point project, at least where construction is right now.
