My experience with the POP interface to gmail is that it sucks hairy goat balls. For the first month or so I tried using it with Eudora but it would repeatedly hang or download multiple copies of messages. Note that I am still using gmail because it has other redeeming features... but if you are counting on the POP feature I would say don't. Hopefully they will improve it in the future.
