Well, it was at least faster than walking. (Almost certainly not faster than biking.) They've cleverly replaced all of the local busses with magic Silver Line busses (there are SL2 and SL3). So the options were "walk from South Station" or "use the new, um, spiffy bus", and the Silver Line is at least marginally better than walking a mile through the cold.
