Bike Toys

Stopped by Ace Wheelworks this afternoon for a cycle computer. Turns out that this is the sort of thing you need to ask about at the counter, but they're not outrageously expensive; I got a basic model that will give me speed and distance for $25. I stopped behind the Davis T stop to install it (and ran into eichin in the process). Between the mount for the light and the new toy, I was nearly overcome by geekly urges to INSTALL MORE GADGETS ON THE HANDLEBARS!, but I was able to resist.

The actual bike ride wasn't that great. I set out along the Minuteman, but didn't even make it through Arlington. In between fatigue and a headache, I decided I had absolutely no hope of making it all the way to Bedford, so I turned back. There was a plan to try to shortcut from Arlington Center via Route 60, but that's sort of hilly. Attempts to miss the West Medford commuter rail failed. (But I can get up to 25 mph on a downhill if I try!) After under 11 miles leaving Davis, I made it home; dinner suggests that problem was more likely caffeine deprivation than allergies.
