My new favoritest road
Jul. 25th, 2006 09:45 pmEven better than Old Road to Nine Acre Corner in Concord? And harder to find in Google Maps? Next to Anza-Borrego Desert State Park northeast of San Diego is Great Southern Overland Stage Route of 1849. Google could probably tell me its history, but the first thing it finds is a street sign. Maybe the next time I'm out that way, I'll go visit...
(Typing this stuff into Google Maps is hard: you need to figure out exactly how they've spelled "Old Road to Nine Acre Corner"; is it "Road" or "Rd", "Nine" or "9", does it accept "ORNAC", or did they just randomly truncate "Corner"? Apparently "to" is a conjunction just like "and" so that gets left out too. The second one will accept that exact capitalization as unambiguous, but not all lowercase, and I need to remember how to URL-encode ampersands.)
