Among my guilty pleasures is getting coffee on the way to work at the Diesel. I try to limit myself to doing this once a week or so, but in spite of this the baristas recognize me and know what I usually order. But now my default commute doesn't go through Davis, and it's worse when work is "near the Galleria" as opposed to "near Alewife". There's (*shudder*) a Starbucks in the Galleria proper, which is what's caffeinating me today.
| Diesel | Starbucks |
---|
Order | Large latte | Venti latte |
Price | $3.60 | $3.86 |
Lifespan | Mostly finished by the time I T from Davis to Alewife and get up to my desk | Might be finished by lunch |
Foam | Mmm, yes, tasty | Kinda absent |
Warm-fuzziness | Small local business with, erm, "hip" staff | Big eeeevil multinational conglomerate |
I think the conclusion of this is that, for the extra quarter and not walking five extra minutes away from work, I get more coffee than I can really deal with, but I like the Diesel and the Diesel's drinks more. Plus if I'm in Davis I don't need to commit to a bus, so in theory I can be at work sooner. Yeah...that's my excuse there...
