Yesterday I got to do the Special Student Registration Riddle Trail. I suspect the first person I talked to pointed me the wrong way so the whole thing took an hour instead of 15 minutes, but oh well. :-/

So that made today be the first day of 6.341. Once upon a time I thought signal processing was a neat idea, and then I actually took a couple of classes on it. I think fairly little actually soaked in, but it'd be good to know more about this stuff for work.

Class today was actually encouraging. There's a "background exam" in two weeks, but it sounds like the course staff is almost expecting everyone to have forgotten everything they ever knew about signal processing. The first problem set looks like useful review (and hopefully people who are actually up on this can do the problems in an hour without getting bored). The other interesting administrative feature of the class: you can decide up front that you're not going to turn in the problem sets, and they won't be part of your grade. I went with the "force me to do homework" option, though.
